RESIDENTS in Kidlington will have to wait until the summer to have their say on recent flooding in the village.

Homeowners woke on Saturday to find their driveways filled with water after a sewage pipe in Sandy Lane collapsed.

Fire crews and tankers from Thames Water were called to clear the water and returned on Monday after more heavy rain.

Parish council chairman Maurice Billington has called for a residents’ meeting to be held with Oxford West and Abingdon MP Nicola Blackwood and representatives from Thames Water and the fire service, to help stop the problem happening again.

Roads affected included Stratfield Road, Lock Crescent and South Avenue. Part of Springfield Road also had floodwater up to six inches deep.

Mr Billington said: “All the water has now gone from the homes in the affected roads and everything is back to normal.

“But we have had problems since the estate was first built in the 1950s and each year it seems to be getting worse.”

He added that the meeting this summer, for which a date has not yet been confirmed, would hopefully include representatives from the county council.

Oxfordshire County Council spokesman Paul Smith confirmed fire crews had not been called back to the estate since the flooding on Monday.
