WITH a new station comes a new café, and Little Italy has opened the only eaterie at Oxford Parkway, for the moment at least – although it already runs branches at Haddenham, Wendover and Bicester stations.
The Kidlington branch isn’t a large establishment, but has enough to enable you to grab a croissant, sandwich or a cup of coffee when running to catch your train.
The staff are always friendly there, the service quick and the produce fresh, even if the premises are pretty teeny-weeny.
En route to London (yes I did get there in under an hour and yes it was off peak) I managed to snatch one of those yoghurt pots with granola on the top (well it was breakfast time) some fruit and a cappuccino in record time before boarding my train.
Breakfast cost £4.50, and probably tasted better than anything that First Great Western has to offer onboard.
So next time you are rushing out the door unprepared for your train journey – don’t worry, Little Italy has got it all covered.
