MURDER mystery novelist Dame Agatha Christie was remembered by fans yesterday on the 40th anniversary of her death.

Her grave at St Mary’s Church in Cholsey was adorned with a floral wreath in celebration of the renowned author’s life.

Rosie Powell, 10, was one of the children from Cholsey Primary School who visited the grave.

She said: “It was really wonderful for us to gather together and remember her. It was really lovely. A beautiful wreath was laid.”

Oxford Mail:

The author lived at Winterbrook House in Cholsey near Wallingford from 1934, until her death in 1976.

She was famed for books featuring famous detectives such as Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot, which have since been made into popular TV dramas.

She died in the house, which she shared with her husband, aged 86.

The exterior of her old house, which is privately owned, is marked with a blue plaque.
