YOUNGSTERS have been put to task at The Story Museum as it transforms its halls into a winter wonderland.

Caretaker Nick Rochester and furry friend Winter Mouse whisked visitors into a seasonal frenzy while enlisting decorating help at a performance last week.

Children were invited along to a performance of stories and songs at the Oxford museum and help characters deck the halls with winter scenes.

With just pennies and pine cones, the duo challenged children to help create a winter wonderland and paint their own decorations.

Actor, singer and musician Paul Tonkin took on the role beside Winter Mouse.

He said: “The show itself was one main storytelling piece using different stories such as The Little Fir Tree. It included lots of music and lots of fun.

“There was a moment in the show for kids to come and decorate the tree and then they had the opportunity to paint small decorations afterwards.

“I have done over 50 shows and it has been a lot of fun.

“Lots of people said they enjoyed the interaction and the songs that we chose for everyone to sing along to.”

The Winter Tales event was open for visitors young and old and ended on Sunday after around a month of shows.
