A 37-year-old man has been charged with causing the death of a motorist who stopped to help people involved in a crash on a motorway.

Gary Roberts, of Birmingham, died after a collision on the M40 south of junction six near Lewknor, Oxfordshire, in December.

The 49-year-old had stopped to help at a crash where Robert Lovelace, 14, also from Birmingham, had died.

Police today charged Simon Clark, 37, of Windmill Road in Hemel Hempstead, with causing death by dangerous driving.

Clark is bailed to appear at Oxford Magistrates' Court on Thursday, May 31.

A 41-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of causing the death of the teenager by dangerous driving, was today released without charge.
