A WEATHER warning has been issued for strong winds across Oxfordshire today.

The Met Office had warned there could be gusts up to 50mph from 9am this morning, but coastal regions being the worst affected with wind speeds of up to 60mph.

Rain is also forecast for Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning and said people should be aware of the potential for travel disruption.

But it reduced its forecast of strong winds from its warning last night from 55mph across inland areas and 70mph on the coasts.

The strong winds are being caused by a low pressure system dropping over Scotland across the weekend, causing massive air movements across England and Wales.
