A KEEN runner has combined charity with the sweet smell – and taste – of macaroni and cheese.
Dave Reynolds, 28, of Cowley, wrote a recipe book dedicated to the comfort food classic to raise funds for the Outward Bound Trust, an international charity that supports young people.
Mr Reynolds, a project manager for media analysis company Prime Research, fell in love with macaroni and cheese during a work trip to Michigan last year.
He is set to run the London Marathon in April and has pledged to raise £1,750. He wrote and self-published his book, Macarunni Cheese, to collect money.
He said: “I didn’t want to pester friends and families for donations – I wanted to give something back in return. The book looks really good and the recipes are quite interesting.”
One of his recipes, which includes chorizo, cider and sun-dried tomatoes, sold out on Wednesday at Gloucester Green Market at Big Dave’s Barbecue Shack.
Donors can receive a signed hard copy of Macarunni Cheese for £20 or a PDF version for £10.
