CHILTERN Railways has added more carriages to its morning trains from Bicester North after complaints regarding a lack of peak-time services at the station.
The 6.25 and 7.11 trains from Bicester North to London Marylebone will have seven carriages instead of the current six starting December 13, when Chiltern Railways’s new timetable comes into effect.
A user wrote to the Oxford Mail earlier this month explaining how her morning commute had lengthened following the opening of Oxford Parkway in October.
Ellie Coleman, of Bicester, wrote: “The new timetable from Bicester North to London Marylebone is a considerable step back. The number of peak-time trains has reduced and journey times have increased.
“My commute has been increased by 70 minutes per Monday-Friday week due to these changes – the worst being the scrapping of the 17.18 London Marylebone to Bicester North service.”
The 17.21 from London Marylebone to Banbury will also be upgraded to seven carriages instead of six, as well as the 17.50 from London Marylebone to Oxford Parkway.
The 6.37 from Haddenham & Thame Parkway will be lengthened from two to three carriages. There will be additional non-stop trains to London in the evening, in addition to the existing non-stop services to London in the morning.
