A man was attacked with a stick in Oxford before a woman drove a car at him.
Thames Valley Police officers are now appealing for information about the incident at the weekend.
At about 8.30pm on Saturday, the victim, a 41-year-old man, left a house in Railway Lane.
He was followed by a man who then hit him with a wooden pole or stick.
As the 41-year-old tried to get away a woman drove a blue Honda car at him.
The victim suffered a broken arm and was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital for treatment.
He has since been discharged.
Investigating officer, DC Emma Thompson from Force CID Oxford, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident and also to reassure local residents that we do not believe this was a random attack.”

A 30-year-old man from Oxford was arrested on Sunday on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and possession of a class A drug and bailed until January 16.
A 30-year-old woman of no fixed address was arrested on Sunday on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle dangerously and was bailed until January 16.
