Children got grubby in the school garden as they planted vegetables, geraniums and Busy Lizzies in Wallingford.

The early years pupils at St Nicholas Church of England Infant School were learning about gardens as part of their lessons in knowledge and understanding of the world.

Headteacher Frances Taylor said: "The children loved it. Now there will be a little bit of awe and wonder as they stand back and watch them grow.

"We're hoping the flowers are going to be really colourful and they will get a taste of the vegetables when they're harvested in September."

The plants were donated by Susie Bond, of Busy Baskets, in Wantage Road.
