A SINGER-SONGWRITER from Oxford will take on the first 30 miles of a pilgrimage for Christian Aid to pressure world leaders on climate change.

Jess Hall, from Cutteslowe, will walk from Banstead in Surrey to Burgess Hill in West Sussex at the end of the month.

The Christian Aid regional co-ordinator will support a group of 20 pilgrims travelling 230 miles from London to Paris on November 29. A UN Summit in the French capital next month will go ahead despite Friday’s atrocities.

It will make an agreement providing the basis for global action on climate change.

Ms Hall said: “Walking just a few short miles among the Paris Pilgrims is my way of showing solidarity with millions of the world’s poorest people who are already seeing their lives devastated by climate change. We need to protect and safeguard the future of our planet and enable the world’s poorest people to develop.”

Christian Aid has set up a petition calling for an end to fossil fuel use which will be handed to the Executive Secretary of UN Conference.
