CELEBRITIES united and snapped their eyes as they took part in an Oxfam campaign tackling climate change.

The Cowley-based charity called on the country to join its Eyes on Paris campaign, urging leaders to take action.

Stars including actor Simon Pegg and chef Jamie Oliver took pictures of their eyes before sharing their selfies on Twitter using the hashtag #eyesonParis last Thursday.

The campaign, which took place before Friday’s atrocities in Paris, aimed to highlight the plight of the world’s poorest countries where people starve because of climate change.

Shaun of the Dead star Mr Pegg said: “It’s unbelievable we live in a world where some people still deny climate change. We all share planet Earth and we all should care what goes on in Paris for the sake of future generations.

“I’m supporting Oxfam while it turns a global spotlight on this massive issue.”

The charity wants talks on climate change, which are set to take place in Paris between November 30 and December 1, to result in cuts to emissions and more climate funding to help the poorest people survive.

Actress Naomie Harris, who stars in the new James Bond film Spectre, said: “I want world leaders to be able to look us in the eye, knowing that they have agreed the best possible deal to tackle climate change.”

Oxfam chief executive Mark Goldring added: “It’s wonderful to have the support of so many huge stars on this global issue.

“All countries must do their fair share to tackle climate change, but rich countries like Britain who are most responsible must lead the way.

“We hope world leaders now know we are watching.”
