FRIENDS and family of a teenager killed on the A40 will be able to pay their respects at her funeral service on Friday.

Nineteen-year-old Katy Pancott, from Kidlington, died in the early hours of Friday, October 9, after being struck by a car near Cassington.

Her parents, David Griffin and Michelle Pancott, both 43, paid tribute to their “beautiful, bubbly and energetic” daughter and said she would never be forgotten.

Miss Pancott’s funeral is at St John’s Chapel, Oxford Crematorium, at 12.45pm.

The family have asked if those attending can wear bright coloured clothing and an item of red – one of her favourite colours.

Mr Griffin said: “It’s supposed to be a celebration of Katy’s life.

“It’s a cremation – the reason being I want Katy to come home where she belongs. I will be bringing her ashes home to be with her family.

“Even though her mother doesn’t live with us she will also have the opportunity to have part of Katy if she wishes.

“I will not allow anyone in this family to forget Katy.”

Mr Griffin revealed that on the day Miss Pancott died she was due to head off on a sunny holiday abroad with her aunt and cousin.

He added: “I think the funeral will help the family with closure, with accepting that she has gone.

“But personally I would rather have no funeral and carry on believing that she is about to climb through the window any minute.

“There are lots of people that know Katy and I hope as many of them as possible will be there.

“Obviously Katy is going to be very dearly missed by all of us. She will never be forgotten.”

The crash took place at 12.35am near the Agrivert plant between Eynsham roundabout and Wolvercote roundabout.

Officers said a 19-year-old woman got out of her own accord from a black C63 Mercedes, which was stationary at the time. She was then hit by a Ford Focus and died at the scene. No action was taken against the driver of the Ford.

Another man was arrested in connection with the incident but no further action was taken by police.

Mr Griffin said: “Although at this time our family is suffering from the devastating loss of our beloved Katy, our thoughts are also with the driver of the Ford Focus and his family.

“We wish them all the very best that we can at this incredibly difficult time.”

Miss Pancott had been working at the Crown pub in Cornmarket Street after studying travel and tourism at City of Oxford College.

She lived at home in Orchard Way with Mr Griffin, brothers Lucas, nine, Kyle, 13, and sister Sophia, 17. Her mother lives in Headington.

Flowers are welcome at the funeral or people can donate to the Katy Pancott Memorial Fund.

The money will go towards a memorial bench, stone, or similar item to be placed in Kidlington for Miss Pancott’s friends to visit and pay their respects.
