WAR veterans and families of those who died in both World Wars attended a moving ceremony at Christ Church Cathedral this morning.

The names of 20 servicemen - 10 from both the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry and the Queen's Own Oxfordshire Hussars - were read out to commemorate all those who have given their lives in war.

A two-minute silence was observed during the service which was attended by the families of some of the names read out.

The Turning the Pages ceremony is conducted every two months, but today was a special Armistice Day service.

Vernon Jones, 92, who fought with the 1st Battalion Ox and Bucks in the Second World War read out the names for his regiment.

He said: "It was very touching and I was honoured to be able to do it.
"I'm lucky that I'm still here to read them out when so many are not.
"Today is so important we must never forget them and we must never let it go.

He added: "Our country would be so different without them."

Colonel Chris Laurence, who commanded the QOOH squadron between 1983 and 1989 read out the names for his regiment.
