The search for a weapon in connection with the death of Kerry Reeves continued in Abingdon at the weekend, police have confirmed.

Thames Valley Police spokesman James Williams said officers conducted searches in the town for a weapon in connection with the murder of Miss Reeves, 26, who died on Thursday after being shot in the head in Thornhill Walk on Tuesday.

On Saturday armed officers with dogs raided a house in Welford Gardens but made no arrests and the hunt for suspect Billy Johnson, 20, continues.

Mr Williams added that a post mortem examination was scheduled to take place today.

Regarding the searches Mr Williams said a weapon has not yet been found.

He added: “For investigative reasons we are not commenting on specific locations.”

Mr Williams added that officers from the force are working with a number of other forces in the hunt for Mr Johnson but would not be specific.

A large number of floral tributes have been left next to a tree in Thornhill Walk in memory of Miss Reeves.

Mr Johnson has links with Corby in Northamptonshire and west London but lived in Abingdon.

He has previous convictions and at a police press conference on Friday members of the public were warned not to approach him.

The raid on Saturday came after police said that morning they had received a number of tip-offs from members of the public about Mr Johnson’s whereabouts.

Mr Williams added: “Thames Valley Police is continuing its thorough investigation into the murder of Kerry Reeves.

“We have had some calls from the public following our appeal on Friday.

“We thank the public for their assistance and ask anyone with any information, especially if they know where Billy Johnson is, to call us on 101.”

A 20-year-old from Ealing, London, was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of attempted murder, the re-arrested on Thursday on suspicion of murder after Miss Reeves died. He has been released on bail until December 5.
