FIREWORKS displays are going ahead tonight in Oxfordshire despite the rain.

Organisers at South Park in Oxford are already building the traditional 50ft bonfire which will be set alight after the fireworks at 6.45pm.

Wallingford's organisers have also said their show will go on, and the professional team behind the Kinecroft spectacular have been "fusing" their computer-programmed musical display since 7.30am this morning.

The good news comes after Kidlington Parish Council cancelled its annual show on Thursday night because of the bad weather.

There are also due to be shows tonight in Abingdon, Didcot, Bicester and Minster Lovell.
