A FIRE that started in a dishwasher spread to the kitchen area in a property in Calthorpe Road, Banbury.
Crews were called to the scene shortly after 7pm last night and discovered smoke had filled the ground floor.
Firefighters tackled the blaze and checked for damage to the rest of the property.
Incident Commander, Watch Manager Chris Fenemore from Deddington Fire Station said: “Fortunately, the fire was quickly detected as the resident was in the kitchen when smoke started coming from her dishwasher.
"She followed all of our guidelines and immediately left the property closing the door to the kitchen behind her, she then stayed out and called the fire service out.
"The property was fitted with working smoke alarms on each floor, and these were soon activating, so would have given plenty of warning should she not have been in the kitchen at the time.
"Due to her quick thinking and well-practiced fire plan everyone left the property swiftly and the fire was limited to a very small area, meaning everyone was able to return home within an hour.”
