PERFORMERS from the contemporary dance company Motionhouse put on a special show to mark the imminent opening of the new Oxford Parkway Station The dance show took place in Broad Street, Oxford.

Nicola Clark, head of communications at Chiltern Railways, said: “We have a history of working with artists to interpret travel in interesting ways.

“Stations are places where people linger and don’t expect to be inspired.

Motionhouse choreographed the dance especially for the occasion.

The six-minute performance on Monday ran three times around lunchtime, with dancers dressed as Chiltern Railways employees.

Mrs Clark said: “It was quite jazzy – a playful take on what travel could be like.

“People really liked it – there was a great mixture of visitors to Oxford, people going to get lunch, and people dropping off their children off for their first day at university .”

The first train will leave the new Oxford Parkway station at Water Eaton on Monday, October 26, and will arrive at London Marylebone 56 minutes later.

Two fast trains will run per hour between Oxford Parkway and London via Bicester.
