MORE THAN 50 stunning flower arrangements were on display in Kidlington over the weekend for the village’s annual flower festival.

Visitors were able to view the flowers in St Mary’s Church in Church Street on Saturday and Sunday.

Pupils from West Kidlington School, St Thomas More Primary School and North Kidlington School also produced flower arrangements to display over the weekend.

Marianne Balazs, who lives in Foxdown Close, has helped organise the event for the last 10 years.

She said: “The arrangements this year were absolutely beautiful and the best I have seen in a long time.”

Adina Talas, 33, of Green Road, created an arrangement on the theme of creation.

She said: “It was great to see people of all ages turn out for the festival, especially all the children from the local schools. Everyone was so friendly. It was nice to meet other people who shared the same passion as me for flowers.”

Frank Malone, 80, former chairman of Kidlington Gardening Society, brought fuchsia dahlias from his garden in Benmead Road for the festival.

He said: “It is sometimes difficult to grow these flowers at this time of year – I managed to pick mine just the day before.”

The festival, which was organised by the Kidlington Evening Townswomen’s Guild, raised about £500 for Christian Aid.
