AFTER three of Oxfordshire’s MPs voiced their concerns on the refugee crisis earlier this week, Victoria Prentis, MP for Banbury, has joined them.

Speaking yesterday following Prime Minister David Cameron’s pledge that “thousands” more refugees would be accommodated in the UK, she said: “This is clearly a global problem, and I am pleased that Britain is playing its part.

“In addition, the UK government has committed to increasing its already considerable financial contribution to the international aid effort. I remain proud of our country’s record and overall efforts in dealing with this crisis to date.”

On Thursday MPs Andrew Smith, Nicola Blackwood and David Cameron voiced their concerns, with Mr Smith saying Britain had a “clear moral duty” to take more.

Two Oxfordshire MPs have yet to break their silence on the crisis.

They are Ed Vaizey, MP for the Wantage constituency, and John Howell, for Henley, who did not respond to calls yesterday and Thursday by the Oxford Mail.
