MEMBERS of Oxford Union have produced a star-studded video aiming to catch the eye of pop sensation Taylor Swift.

After poring over hours of footage from past celebrity visits, members of the debating society edited their speeches together to form a version of Swift's hit single 'Shake it Off'.

Illustrious guests including Malala Yousafzai, Stephen Fry and Morgan Freeman are spliced together to form the first verse and chorus, with Sir Patrick Stewart picking up the 'Shake it Off' refrain.

The video first appeared online on Wednesday night alongside a tweet from the Union which read: "@taylorswift13 Fancy joining us in Oxford? #shakeitoff".

Oxford Union president Charlie Vaughan said he hoped the pop star, who is currently on a world tour for her '1989' album, would take notice and pay a visit.

He said: "It began as an idea for all the new students coming into Oxford next year, and then we suddenly realised this could be a way to invite Taylor Swift to Oxford.

"We host politicians and controversial figures but also some of the best celebrities. Taylor Swift is not just a brilliant musician but an international icon.

"It was a big project trawling through our collection and putting it all together."

Since its first appearance, the video has been retweeted scores of times and even received a response from education activist Malala Yousafzai, who simply tweeted: "brilliant".

Mr Vaughan added: "It seems to have gone viral. It's broken out of the Oxford bubble and is being talked about around the world."
