A PUB garden became an outdoor gallery as part of the Summer Oxford Art Fair.

More than 40 artists from Oxford, Abingdon, Thame and further afield gathered in the garden of The Fishes in North Hinksey as part of the festival.

Paintings, sculptures, ceramics, photographs, jewellery and antiques were among the treasures on show, alongside their creators who were there to share the stories of the individual artworks.

Dita Orumi, an artist from northern Albania, said that her art was her “life priority” and that she was inspired by fashion, photography and figurative arts.

She said: “Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves in the sunshine and there were lots of people there.”

Following the art fair at the weekend, Fishes manager Owain Llwyd Jones said: “It was great to welcome back the Summer Oxford Art Fair to the pub and to make a weekend-long festival out of it.

“It’s the third time we’ve given our garden over to art and artists, who turn it into the most incredible display of talent.

“This year, with two days of feasting, fun and fabulous art, it was more colourful than ever.”

Joelle Dinnage, who organised the event, was also pleased to be back at The Fishes, adding that the art fair brought together a wide range of different artists working in different media in a one-off setting.

She said: “We’re fortunate to have this wonderful garden – just a stone’s throw from town yet in lovely countryside – right here on our doorstep and to be able to fill it with so much amazing art.

“There’s so much novel and exciting art coming out of the city and beyond right now, it really demands a special place to show it. The place was undoubtedly here.”

The event also involved live music and entertainment on both days, with Ashnan Dance and Oxford Jazz Collective performing. Live painting classes were also on offer.
