A FAMILY from Blackbird Leys said they have been left traumatised after their home was raided by burglars.

The family, who are so terrified of another attack they do not wish to be identified, said they had jewellery and gold stolen in the aggravated burglary on July 28.

The father of the family said he had been told by police there had been similar attacks recently.

He said his father-in-law and mother-in-law, who were visiting Britain from Pakistan for the first time, were racially abused by the burglars, who hit his father-in-law with his own walking stick.

He said he was out of the house and his wife and children had gone to Tesco when his relatives were attacked as they returned to the flat.

He said: “My father-in-law put the key in the door and a person came up behind them and pushed them and followed them into our lounge.

“One of them kept a lookout and another hit my father-in-law on the leg with his walking stick. The other two went upstairs to ransack all the rooms.

“The scary thing is how prepared and confident these people were to do it in broad daylight.”

Thames Valley Police are investigating the incident and said officers are hunting for two men, both white and both aged between 20 and 30.

They both had black scarves over their faces and one had a light blue jacket.

Both spoke with English accents and escaped in the direction of Balfour Road.

Police were unable to confirm whether there had been any other similar incidents.
