A DECISION on plans for a new Bicester retail park at a site already dubbed “a traffic blackspot” has been deferred for developers to address objections.
The proposal would see a retail park built off the Oxford Road, including Next, Marks & Spencer and one other retailer, plus three restaurants and a gym.
The application received a number of objections, many commenting that the town would welcome the brands but the park’s location would have a detrimental effect on the town centre and traffic.
Following a recommendation for refusal, applicants CPG Development Projects Ltd asked for a deferral and the decision will now be put to Cherwell District Council at a planning meeting in September.

CPG Development Projects Ltd managing director Martin Ridgeway expressed his disappointment at the recommendation, adding that he believed the reasons for refusal were “extremely subjective” and raised late in the day.
He said: “We have requested that the application is deferred to the September meeting as, with the additional time, we can address all the outstanding issues."
