Surveying work will start tonight on Foxhall Road railway bridge.
Network Rail will carry out the work until September 23 as part of its plans to electrify the Great Western railway. There are no expected road closures.
Surveyors will be onsite overnight on weekends from today and will carry out work from 10pm to 9am.
They will take samples of the bridge abutments using a handheld concrete drill.
From September 28 until October 30 teams will then drill boreholes in Basil Hill Road and Foxhall Road near the bridge to find out what sort of material is behind the abutment walls.
This work will be carried out during the day.
