Katie Nutt will compete at the International Water Ski and Wakeboard Federation Junior European Championships in Rome tomorrow after a whirlwind week.
Nutt, 14, from Standlake, was first reserve for Great Britain’s Under 17 squad after initially missing out on selection for the competition.
However, she received a last-minute call-up yesterday after a member of the team suffered an injury in training.
The news came just days after Nutt, who trains at Oxford Wake and Ski Club in Dorchester-on-Thames, took Under 17 slalom gold in the National Championships at Gosfield Lake, Essex.
Nutt slalomed two-and-a-half buoys at 13metres to stand on the top step of the podium.
She also took silver in the trick event, and jump, setting a personal best of 24m, as well as finishing second overall.
Her exploits did not stop there as the Bartholomew School pupil qualified for all three finals in the Open age category.
And the teenager took bronze after negotiating four buoys at 13m.
Mother Shelley Nutt said: “She is doing incredibly well at the moment.
“She has shown a big improvement on her jump this year and has just come back with a new personal best of 24m.
“Fingers crossed for this week.
“She is very excited.”
