PART of Oxford Castle Quarter is cordoned off after a man was attacked in the early hours of this morning.
Police were called to the main square of the castle at about 5.30am after a man, believed to be in his 20s, was assaulted near Cafe 1071.
Today, a police cordon was in place around the square, with an officer standing guard beneath the Castle Mound.
Thames Valley Police spokeswoman Connie Primmer said the guard was to secure the scene while the investigation is carried out.
She added: "We have officers on scene watch to preserve the evidence while the investigation is carried out out.
"It is not believed the man was seriously injured."
Visitors can still get to the Castle Unlocked attraction by entering from Tidmarsh Lane, while the main entrance in New Road is open as usual.
