IT IS the fantasy game where wizards fly to dizzy height on broomsticks, dodging bludgers and chasing the Snitch.
Now the Harry Potter-inspired sport of Quidditch has made its way to the children’s section of Blackwell’s Bookshop, albeit a little bit closer to the ground.
As part of a series of events aimed at keeping children amused during the summer holidays, the Broad Street book shop has decided to start its own ‘Mini Quidditch’ every Wednesday.
The game sees children aim for in-store goals while the keeper throws soft balls at them to distract them in their attempts to score points.
Over the course of the summer holidays, the amount of points that each child scores will be recorded and the youngster with the most points will win a prize.
Blackwell’s buyer for the children’s department Wulfie Thompson, who acts as Quidditch keeper, said: “It has gone down really well and it is our best event so far.”
Five-year-old Daniel Erginoglu, from Oxford, said: “I liked playing the game as it was fun.”
