A DIGGER is now on the scene at Brasenose Driftway where police say canisters containing an unknown substance have caused soil contamination.
The road had been closed and cordoned off by police throughout yesterday after a Royal Logistic Corps team was called to the scene on Tuesday evening following the discovery of the contamination by workers at an empty house in the street.
But now cars are allowed through, as well as residents and any other members of public, if they have reason to do so.
A fire and emergency support service van was also at the scene today, and residents can keep windows and doors open despite being ordered to close them yesterday.
