TENNIS was just one of the sports residents got to try out for free at a taster day organised by a mental health charity.
Oxfordshire Mind also gave people a chance to try boxercise, boccia and zumba at its sports taster day at Cowley Wellbeing Centre on Thursday.
Boccia is a “precision ball sport” similar to bowls and pétanque.
The charity hosted the event as part of its “active body, healthy mind” project.
Co-ordinator Adam Godwin said: “The taster day was a fun way for people to try out new sports and activities and to think about health and fitness.
“It didn’t matter whether people considered themselves sporty or not, we’ve got something to suit everyone and every level of fitness.”
As well as the sports and activities on offer, visitors also got the chance to have their blood pressure checked and get a “Health MOT”.
The Active Body, Healthy Mind project is run by Oxfordshire Mind and the Oxfordshire Sports Partnership and offers sport and physical activity sessions to people wanting to improve their wellbeing.
