THE first in a series of exhibitions about the forthcoming major roadworks in Cutteslowe and Wolvercote began yesterday.

Oxfordshire County Council will hold two further drop-in sessions today and Friday for people to find out more about upgrade works on the Wolvercote and Cutteslowe roundabouts.

The £10 million project is scheduled to start on July 21, with traffic lights installed on both roundabouts as well as the A40 and A44 widened on the approach the junctions.

New pedestrian and cycle crossings will be built and resurfacing work carried out.

Today’s drop in session will be held in Cutteslowe Community Centre, Wren Road, from 10am to 3pm.

Friday’s exhibition will be in The Oxford Hotel, Godstow Road , Wolvercote between 10.40am and 7.30pm.

People will be able to view plans and quiz the council about the scheme, its schedule and intended long-term benefits.

It is expected the work will take up to 16 months to complete and the county council has warned motorists travelling through the area to expect considerably longer journey times, particularly in peak hours.

About 10,000 vehicles currently use the roundabouts each day.
