A VILLAGE primary school is well on the way with its fundraising campaign for a new school field following an Oxford Mail appeal.
Appleton CofE Primary School now has a total of £27,000 – £16,000 in savings and £11,000 it has raised towards the £75,000 the field costs.
On Thursday a special guest will visit the school’s sports night to promote the appeal – Oxford United head coach Michael Appleton.
The Oxford Mail helped promote the fundraising campaign in March when it launched an appeal asking parents to sponsor a square of the new pitch for £10 each.
Friends of Appleton School chairman Philip Briscoe, whose five-year-old daughter Cecily goes to the school, said: “We have had fantastic support from parents, the community and businesses.”
To donate e-mail friendsofappletonschool@gmail.com or text the amount (£1, £5 or £10) and the code FOAS15 to 70070
