THE A420 westbound at Cumnor has reopened this afternoon following roadworks.
Work to repair subsidence on the westbound carriage was completed today and drivers can use the road tonight.
A small amount of resurfacing work will be completed on May 18 and 19, but the road will only shut overnight and a diversion will be signposted.
The news will come as a relief to road users who faced extra congestion on Botley Road, the A420 eastbound into Oxford and around the city during the closure.
Oxfordshire County Council cabinet member for the environment David Nimmo Smith admitted the job had been a challenge.
He said: “We understand the impact the closure had on traffic and the difficulties faced by road users.
“However, we had to tackle the problem now to avoid far more serious problems in the future.”
