TWO police officers have been injured at the scene of a fatal road accident after another vehicle crashed into their car.

The incident happened on Oxford's Northern Bypass Road last night at 2.25am, following the death of a pedestrian in her 20s earlier in the evening.

The two officers were taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital, in Headington, after a blue Toyota Auris collided with their marked police car at 2.25am while they were guarding the scene of the fatal accident.

A Thames Valley Police spokeswoman said one officer sustained a serious leg injury, which will require surgery, and another officer suffered a knee injury and whiplash, but has since been discharged from hospital.

The driver of the Toyata Auris, a woman in her late 20s, suffered minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment.
