The rare Victorian slides are part of a collection at the Institute of Archaeology at Oxford University.

Dr Sally Crawford and Dr Katharina Ulmschneider got their vintage glad rags on to show them off yesterday.

The pair were promoting a live action open evening set to take place at the Ashmolean Museum on May 15.

The museum will thrown open its doors for a special evening of live performances and workshops, presenting cutting-edge research from Oxford University’s Social Science Division.

For one night only, visitors will have the chance to explore what makes humans tick, take part in mass experiments and contributing to leading research in the Social Sciences.

They will alsoget the chance to come face to face with the mysterious skeleton recently uncovered in the grounds of St Cross College.There will be a chance to take part in live experiments with the university.
