A MAN struck by a train yesterday at Oxford Railway Station is in a critical but stable condition in hospital.

The 19-year-old from Kidlington was hit by a train at about 12.20pm. Police, ambulance crews including the Thames Valley air ambulance and fire crews were called to the scene.

Passenger services to and from Oxford were halted for about an hour.

It was later confirmed that the train involved was the 9.27am service from Manchester to Bournemouth, which stopped in Oxford. Customers continued to travel on other services.

A British Transport Police spokesman said today: "A 19-year-old man, from Kidlington, was taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and the man’s family has been informed."
