Guy Luzon is prepared to recruit from home and abroad this summer as attention turns to Charlton’s squad building for next season.

The first year of the Roland Duchatelet era was characterised by signings from abroad, mainly deals which involved the Belgian owner’s network of clubs.

However, the additions of Roger Johnson and Chris Eagles, as well as ex-West Ham player Alou Diarra, seemed to signal a change of tactic in the transfer market with more emphasis on players with experience of the English game.

Head coach Luzon hinted today he has already identified who he would like to draft in and added it didn’t matter if they were currently based here or overseas.

He said: “I know exactly which type of player I want to recruit for next season but now we are really focused on Birmingham.

“When we have something to announce about new signings we will announce it.

“The door is open for every good player and if you find good players here (England) in our financial budget we will bring (them in).

“If we find them abroad we will go abroad, but what is important is that we bring in good players and we build a good squad for next season.

“My target - and our target - is all the key players and all the base of the team will stay next season.”
