A WOMAN accused of stabbing her boyfriend to death in a drunken rage has denied taking “revenge” on him for hurting her.

Natasha Elderfield denies murdering Robert Dobinson on a boat in Abingdon on Sunday, October 19 last year.

The prosecution alleges Mr Dobinson walked in on the defendant and her lover Tony Steggles, leading to a violent argument in which she stabbed him with a kitchen knife. Yesterday Elderfield was cross examined in Oxford Crown Court and asked by prosecutor Charles Ward-Jackson about her turbulent relationship.

He said: “There was frequent physical violence between you, wasn’t there?”

Elderfield replied: “I wouldn’t say frequent, no.

There were some occasions where I had to use force.”

The barrister asked: “On at least one occasion you bit him, correct?” Elderfield answered: “Yes, to get him off me and to get my handbag back.”

Mr Ward-Jackson said: “And on other occasions you hit each other with fists and slaps.” She said: “It has got physical, yes.”

The barrister said: “On October 19 you grabbed a weapon, didn’t you? That happened to be a knife, a kitchen knife?”

She said: “No I did not.”

The barrister said: “And you used it on him with fatal results.”

Elderfield repeated: “No I did not.”

Mr Ward-Jackson said: “You were angry you had been injured and you wanted revenge and you decided that you would stab him.”

She replied: “No I did not. I went straight to bed [after he left] and I asked Tony to leave the boat.”

The trial continues.
