Protesters wore gags and dressed as frogs as the campaign to stop fuel ash being dumped into Thrupp Lake in Radley gathered pace at the weekend.

More than 150 campaigners marched to the lakes on Saturday and became silent as they neared the lake, which is set to be filled with spent fuel ash from Didcot Power Station.

Some wore gags in protest at the High Court injunction granted to lakes owner RWE npower last week which restricted where people could protest.

Others dressed as frogs to highlight their claim that the creatures' habitat would be destroyed.

This protest, organised at very short notice, demonstrates the strength of feeling amongst local people. Surely it is now time for NPower to consider other options?
It was recently announced that there is spare capacity at the landfill site near Sutton Courtenay, yet this space is to be used to take yet more disgusting household refuse from London. If the ash were dumped in the landfill site instead it could actually help to bring forward the restoration of this unsightly tip, while leaving Radley Lakes to the wildlife and local people. A win-win solution! Why are our local politicians not helping to bring it about?

Nice to see what looks like a legal peaceful protest at last and not a bunch of eco terrorists camping out breaking the law. Npower have announced today they are lowering there prices to end users, its a start.

Yes, it was a peaceful protest. However Npower saw fit nonetheless to video protesters asthey walked past the fortified lake.Is this really a democracy we are living in? Are people aware that Npower has taken out an injunction against a clergyman and a retired scientist?this is a personal point of view - Ifound Npowers comments in tonights Mail very hard to swallow and even harder to believe.
