MANY of us are familiar with the brave feats of wartimes heroes during operations such as D-Day, the Battle of the Somme and Paschendale.
There are countless other sacrifices that barely get a mention, and are in danger of fading from memory.
Operation Varsity, which cost the lives of 100 men of the Ox and Bucks Light Infantry, was one of the deciding moments of the Second World War 70 years ago today.
For Pat Simmonds and Sam Langford, the consequences of the airborne assault have stayed with them to this day.
Their courage must never be forgotten.
