PART of Broughton Close in Marston has been closed off due to a "fear for welfare" incident.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it had crews in the Old Marston area as part of an "ongoing joint operation with police."

A spokeswoman for the service refused to release any more information, saying it was a "police operation."

Thames Valley Police have not yet responded to requests for comment.

The force did tweet out that they were dealing with a "fear for welfare" incident and said there was no risk to the public.

Witnesses at the scene said a section of the road had been cornered off and added that police and fire crews were there.

Ambulances are also on scene and a street triage nurse was also seen in the street.

The entrance to Broughton Close has been closed off and police officers were seen talking to residents in houses there.
