POLICE have not found any sign of missing woman Emily Stiff in their search of the Thames and its tributaries today.

The three-man crew of a police inflatable dinghy, pictured below, spent most of today scouring the waterways between Osney and Donnington bridge for the 22-year-old, who has been missing for 16 days.

They finished their search just after 4.30pm and did not find anything.

The search was part of the general enquiry rather than because of specific information.

However, Miss Stiff used to like to walk at the river, a police spokeswoman said.

Det Insp John Turner, from Oxford CID, said: “Today’s search forms part of enquiries to find Emily who has been missing since 24 February.

“This search is one of a number of enquiries officers have been conducting as part of this missing person investigation.

“Emily’s family is aware of the search activities and will be kept updated.”

Miss Stiff's family said: "We are very grateful to Thames Valley Police for all their support.

"They have made strenuous efforts to return Emily safely to us and we are confident that every avenue is being explored."

Miss Stiff is white, slim, approximately 5ft 4in and has brown shoulder-length hair. At the time she was last seen she was wearing a red jumper, a dark chequered skirt and black tights.

If you have any information about Miss Stiff, call police on 101.
