Guy Luzon hailed Frederic Bulot’s display in tonight’s 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest as his best in the last two years.

Bulot gave the hosts the perfect start by stepping up to smash a 20-yard free-kick beyond the reach of Karl Darlow on seven minutes.

But  the advantage proved short lived as Michail Antonio shook off the attention of three Charlton players before drilling a low drive from outside of the box past Stephen Henderson.

However, Bulot restored the lead with his and Charlton’s second of the evening in the 38th minute, taking a touch inside the box after being cleverly picked out by Lawrie Wilson before coolly slotting home.

Luzon knows all about tonight’s double goal hero having also worked with him at Standard Liege and the Addicks chief was suitably impressed by what he saw this evening

“I think it was the best game from him in the last two years,” the SE7 boss said.

“He played very well but not only in the attack – the two goals was the bonus – he was magnificent at working in defence.

“The double ups, he helped the left-back and the right-back and intercepted a lot of balls.

“He was great in defence, great in attack.

“I’m happy for him because he worked hard and deserved his success.

“He showed a lot of commitment to the team because he played every three days in the last two weeks and he ran a lot with high intensity.

“When you work hard then you deserve to win and deserve the success.”

Tonight’s result made it back-to-back wins at The Valley after the weekend success over Huddersfield.

And the Israeli manager admitted he had plenty to smile about after another impressive display from his team.

Luzon explained: “Of course I’m pleased about it because we showed not only quality we showed a lot of character.

“In football and sport the character is very important because in the last two weeks we play every three days and it is not easy for the players.

“We are not fresh like we were two weeks ago. We know we need to show the character, we need to organise well and also when we have the situation to move the ball to move the ball.”

He added: “Today in the last 20 minutes if our striker was a little bit more fresh we would have killed the game after 70/75 minutes.

“But in the end I think all the players did very well and they gave everything. That is what is important for me.

“We started the game very well, we moved the ball well and we score after six or seven minutes.

“But we spoke before in the dressing room that we need to keep consistently quality and resolve because good players in a good team want to win every game if it is away or home.

“We want to show to our fans that after the great win on Saturday we will do everything to win also today.”
