A MAN is in hospital after being attacked and robbed in central Oxford, police said.
The 55-year-old was sat on a bench in Bonn Square near the bus stop when he was attacked on Saturday.
He was punched and kicked and fell to the floor, allowing the robber to take his shopping bag and wallet.
The attacker shouted at the victim then ran off in the direction of New Inn Hall Street, carrying a white shopping bag.
Passersby helped the victim to the bus stop before he was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital with a broken ankle and bruising to his eye.
Police said the attack was between 5.50pm and 6.20pm.
They described the attacker as white, aged in his twenties or thirties, 5ft 9ins, slim, with light coloured hair. He was wearing a dark coloured jacket.
