1. A cycle-a-thon will be held at Bicester Sainsbury’s for the staff’s charity of the year The Hummingbird Centre, which is based in the town and supports people with cancer. Staff will don static bikes from 10am to 7pm.

2. Ancient traditions will continue in Oxford today with a wassailing celebration at Hogacre Common’s orchard off Whitehouse Road, South Oxford. People are invited to sing, dance, enjoy a roaring fire with apple juice and cider from 4pm.

Sunday

3. Walkers are to visit Woodstock’s Blenheim Palace from 10.30am to 2.30pm today for the first Winter Walk in aid of Oxford’s Sobell House Hospice.

Monday

4. A consultation by the Diocese of Oxford on the new Bishop of Oxford will close today. It is seeking nominations for candidates to replace Bishop John Pritchard, who stepped down in October last year.

5. The first road closure as part of works to overhaul The Plain roundabout in St Clements will begin today. It will shut access to St Clement’s Street, though the rest of the road will be open, until February 1. It will also see the closure of Cowley Road northbound, between Circus Street and The Plain, from February 16 to March 8.

Tuesday

6. A public meeting will be held in The Beacon, Portway, Wantage, tonight on the future of Oxfordshire County Council-funded adult learning disability services from 11am to 1pm. The county council is holding meetings on its “big plan” consultation, including how to save £8.6m on learning disability services by April 2018.

7. Cheney School’s East Oxford Community Classics Centre will host an Ancient Astronomy Day, which includes workshops and lectures throughout the day.

Wednesday

8. A further auction will be held today of assets from collapsed Oxfordshire Formula 1 team Marussia, which was based in Banbury. An online sale will start at 1pm and include cars, components and spare parts. A December sale included the sale of 2013 show cars, which did not have engines, for up to £54,000 each.

Thursday

9. A meeting will be held at the Masons Arms, Quarry School Place tonight over plans to extend Holy Trinity Church, Headington Quarry for a creche and disabled toilets. The move has upset some as it will concrete over two graves. The 7.30pm has been called by The Holy Trinity Preservation Group.

Friday

10. Blackwell’s book shop’s two-week William Blake festival continues today with “Saree Makdisi: Reading in the Spirit of Blake” at the Ashmolean Museum, Beaumont Street from 4.30pm to 5.30pm. The lecture will be about “the basis for learning to read in the spirit” of the famed 18th and 19th century painter, poet and printmaker.
