THIS was a cracking picture - and story to go with it. Jon Lewis took the photograph, above, of Temple Cowley Pools campaigner Chaka Artwell for our story about how the BBC refused to interview him on camera while he was wearing his golly soft toy because they feared it would upset their viewers.

I DON'T like picking my own pictures for the week’s best images, but I do like making my work colleagues look stupid as much I possibly can! Here we have a pretty standard long lens (to blur out the background) f2.8 shot on 200th of a second, of Oxford Mail reporter Pete Hughes and Features Editor Tim Hughes dressed in onesies for a feature. Ha!

Oxford Mail:

THESE two funny little baby rat things are new at the Cotswold Wildlife Park. They are, in fact, called Azara’s Agoutis. Jon Lewis managed to get this very nice shot that looks like it might have been taken in the wild. Apparently the Azara’s Agoutis have the latin name Dasyprocta, which means ‘hairy anus’.

Oxford Mail:

RICHARD Cave’s front page picture from The Oxford Times makes good use of shapes with a clear background, just using the new Wild Honey Yoga company logo. It doesn’t scream YOGA picture to me but that’s why I like it. It makes you want to find out more and get reading.

Oxford Mail:

THIS is a lovely bright and colourful shot here by Richard Cave of little Evie Walker having a great time at the MAD DanceAcademy for kids.

Oxford Mail:

THE Oxfam bookshop in Broad Street has had some unique vinyls of recitals created and donated by Ian Rankin that they have up for sale. Shop manager Dage Loranca was pictured by Richard Cave who opted for this slightly unusual shot that works really well.
