POLICE tonight disclosed that robbers stole £20,000 in travellers cheques and foreign currency in the second raid on an Oxford travel agent in five weeks.

The latest robbery at the Co-op Travel Care, London Road, happened just after 1pm on Friday.

Police spokesman Toby Shergold, said: "Two black men entered the shop and demanded the contents of the safe."

He said no weapons were seen, though the robbers kept their hands in their pockets throughout the robbery, making the staff fearful that they were armed.

Co-op spokesman Adrian Barradell said: "The staff members on duty at the time were not physically hurt. But this was, however, an upsetting experience for them."

The shop was raided by two masked robbers on Friday, December 29, held staff at gunpoint and ransacked the safe.

They held three female travel consultants in the back office before stealing cash.
