A MAN has made a desperate plea for his stolen mobile phone to be returned as it contains his last pictures of his dying sister.

The white HTC One phone was stolen from the 51-year-old, who does not want to be named, from the self-service tills at ASDA in Wheatley.

Police said it was taken on Tuesday, December 23, at about 4pm after the victim accidentally left it behind.

Just an hour after the theft, the victim’s 49-year-old sister, who had motor neurone disease, died.

The Wheatley resident said: “When I got home my family told me my sister had died.

“The first thing she lost was her voice and the only way she could communicate was by texting on that phone.

“I had loads of personal messages from her that I wanted to keep and more recent photos.”

He said: “There’s never a good time for these things to happen but it was so much more severe because it was just before Christmas.

“It might just be a mobile phone to some people but it’s much more to me.”

Police want to speak to a woman in the CCTV image released yesterday.

PC Wayne Griffin said: “We believe she may have vital information that could help our investigation.

“Further, if anyone recognises the woman then please come forward. Your information may result in the victim being reunited with precious memories of his late sister.”

Those with information should call police on 101.
