DANCERS and musicians celebrated the Winter Solstice yesterday with a visit to Oxfordshire’s mystical Rollright Stones.

About 15 enthusiasts gathered on the shortest day of the year at the neolithic and Bronze Age megalithic monuments, near Chipping Norton.

The day is still celebrated by pagans and druids as a “re-birth” of the sun. Tony Roberts, pictured, from Beorma Morris, said: “A few of our members are pagans and to them it’s an important time of year.

“The tradition is still very much alive and well.”
