IF you go down to the woods today...you won’t be able to get a ticket as this village panto is a box office sell- out.

Volunteers at Nuneham Courtenay’s Global Retreat Centre are delighted their production of Into the Woods has sold out for the first time in its three-year history.

The adaptation of Stephen Sondheim’s 1986 fairytale musical has already sold out its 1,050 tickets for its seven-show run at the Nuneham Park estate which begins tomorrow.

Organiser Marneta Viegas, 46, rewrote the story – about fairytale characters trying to find a happy ending – to appeal to a younger audience.

Miss Viegas said: “It is great that so many people are interested. It is a shame that we don’t have more seats.

“The pantomime is going to be really funny and the kids are going to love it.”

She said it is a “happy coincidence” that a Disney movie of the show will come out next year. Tickets for Into The Woods Tickets sold out within a week of going on sale in mid-November.

But audiences will get a chance to see it next summer at the estate’s July 2-26 Peace in the Park event.
